SEPANG, JUNE 19 — A woman was charged at the Magistrate’s Court here today with murdering an Indonesian citizen earlier this month.
The accused, Chin Siau Lan, 44, is charged with murdering the Indonesian national in a residential unit in Block B, The Olive, Jalan Sunsuria 1, Bandar Sunsuria, here at about 2.31 pm, June 3.
The charge was brought under Section 302 of the Penal Code which provides for the death penalty or imprisonment for not less than 30 years and not more than 40 years and whipping of not less than 12 strokes, if convicted.
No confession was recorded from the accused as the murder case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor V. Luvithaa while the accused was represented by lawyer V. Ayasamy.
Magistrate Khairatul Animah Jelani then set a date for the case to be mentioned again on July 21 for the submission of documents.
