PETALING JAYA, June 19 — The atmosphere at Dewan Serbaguna Kg Baru Seri Setia here was filled with festive cheer and a strong sense of community as residents gathered to celebrate the Dumpling Festival (端午节) through a distribution of Bak Zhang.
The event, which saw constituents of P106 enjoying a variety of traditional rice dumplings, also served as a commemoration of the ancient Chinese poet Qu Yuan, whose legacy is closely associated with the cultural origins of the festival.
Former Minister and Puchong Member of Parliament Gobind Singh Deo, who was present at the event, said the celebration reflected Malaysia’s unique muhibbah spirit, where cultural traditions are shared and appreciated across communities.
He noted that such gatherings go beyond cultural observance, serving as a reminder of the importance of unity in diversity within the nation.
