SEGAMAT, June 24 — Deputy Minister of National Unity and Segamat Member of Parliament R. Yuneswaran has invited residents of the district to join a special durian feast this evening together with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in conjunction with the peak of the local durian season.
Yuneswaran said the programme is aimed at bringing the community together in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere while strengthening the bond between the people and national leaders.
“Durian season is one of the most anticipated times of the year in Segamat. We do not want to enjoy it alone, so we are inviting everyone to come and share this experience together with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,” he said in a statement today.
The event, organised by the Segamat Parliamentary Office, will take place at 6pm at the Yayasan Bazaar Site, located in front of Big Pharmacy, Taman Yayasan, Segamat.
Yuneswaran said preparations are already underway to ensure visitors can enjoy fresh durians in a comfortable setting.
“I personally went down to help prepare and peel the durians. This programme is not only about enjoying one of Malaysia’s favourite fruits, but also about fostering unity and strengthening relationships among the people,” he said.
He encouraged residents to bring along their family members, neighbours and friends to participate in the gathering.
“Programmes like this provide an opportunity for people from all walks of life to meet, interact and celebrate together. Durian brings us together, and through this gathering we hope to further strengthen the spirit of unity among the people of Segamat,” he added.
The programme is expected to attract a large turnout of residents eager to meet the Prime Minister and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
“Durian we eat, unity we strengthen,” Yuneswaran said.
