PUTRAJAYA, July 21 – Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has outlined four key strategic mandates to guide the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM), ensuring it remains relevant, trusted and respected in addressing national security challenges and the rapidly evolving global landscape.

Speaking at the 104th Immigration Day celebration on Tuesday, Ahmad Zahid said the world is changing at an unprecedented pace, making it imperative for the Immigration Department to keep up through greater adoption of technology, stronger integrity and enhanced professionalism.

He stressed that JIM must continue to serve as a strategic institution that not only safeguards the nation’s security but also meets the needs of the people while supporting Malaysia’s economic growth and development agenda.

According to Ahmad Zahid, the four mandates introduced under the theme “Four Mandates, One Direction for Immigration Transformation” will serve as the department’s strategic compass moving forward.

The mandates focus on strengthening the Immigration Department’s role as a facilitator of economic growth, reinforcing national security and border protection, accelerating digital transformation in service delivery, and enhancing integrity, professionalism and humanitarian values among its personnel.

During his address, Ahmad Zahid also shared that the Immigration Department holds a special place in his heart, having previously served as Malaysia’s Home Minister, the ministry responsible for overseeing the department.

He said the experience allowed him to witness firsthand the commitment, dedication and sacrifices made by Immigration officers in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and ensuring that every point of entry into Malaysia remains secure and well protected.

Ahmad Zahid also expressed his appreciation to all Immigration Department personnel for their unwavering service and contributions in protecting the nation’s borders while facilitating the movement of citizens, visitors and investors.
