Johor offers premium salary of RM4,000 for new graduates – Onn Hafiz

BATU PAHAT: Premium salaries are now being offered to young people from Johor with income rates reaching RM4,000 and above for new graduates. Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said this scenario would see them no longer having to migrate to neighbouring countries such as Singapore or outside Johor such as Kuala Lumpur for survival. He said the more competitive income offer would be tailored according to the academic qualifications and level of technical skills possessed by each applicant. "New graduates now, God willing, can easily earn RM4,000 and above based on their qualifications." "If you graduate from Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), depending on the level, you can get RM4,000 to RM5,000 and above... this is one of the initiatives we are taking," he said when speaking at the Ayuh Johor Mahasiswa program at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia here today. Onn Hafiz said the surge in premium salary offers was driven by the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) initiative which acts as the main catalyst for the state's current economic development. He said the influx of foreign investors, including the latest investment commitment worth RM2 billion from a leading oil and gas industry company from the United States, would open up thousands of high-quality job opportunities in Johor. To realise this wish, Onn Hafiz said Johor is the only state government to mobilise integrated collaboration involving all higher learning institutions and related agencies under the Johor Talent Development Council (JTDC). He said the strategic move brings together important entities such as the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO), TVET institutions, higher learning institutions (IPT), Industrial Training Institutes (ILP) and HRD Corp to carry out the job matching process aggressively. For the period from January to April last year, JTDC facilitated 7,773 job placements. -- BERNAMA

Negeri Sembilan State Assembly Dissolved To Pave Way For State Election

SEREMBAN, June 5 -- The Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly, which has 36 seats, will be officially dissolved tomorrow to pave the way for the upcoming State Election (PRN) yesterday. The announcement was made by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun during a special press conference at his official residence here last night, bringing an end to weeks of speculation surrounding the timing of the assembly's dissolution. Aminuddin said the dissolution was carried out after obtaining the consent of the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, during an audience at Istana Besar Seri Menanti earlier today. Aminuddin said the official notice of the State Legislative Assembly's dissolution will be submitted to the Election Commission (EC) soon for the electoral body to determine key dates for the upcoming State Election (PRN). The dates to be announced by the EC include nomination day, the campaign period, early voting and polling day. “Pakatan Harapan will contest all 36 state seats and the allocation of seats among component parties will be announced next week,” he told reporters after announcing the dissolution of the assembly here tonight. Meanwhile, he said the dissolution was carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Negeri Sembilan State Constitution and was deemed necessary to address the political uncertainty that had arisen in the state. “We feel it is necessary to obtain a fresh mandate from the people, so I leave it to the people to determine the future of this state,” he said. The 15th State Election in 2023 saw Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional form the Negeri Sembilan government after securing a combined 31 of the 36 state seats. Of the total seats, PH won 17, BN secured 14, while Perikatan Nasional (PN) won the remaining five seats. Negeri Sembilan becomes the second state to dissolve the state assembly to make way for the state election after Johor, which did so last Monday. -- BERNAMA
