JOHOR BAHRU, JULY 9 -- Johor Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi has called on voters to give their mandate to Barisan Nasional candidates in the upcoming Johor state election, saying the coalition's candidates are committed to serving the people and safeguarding the state's future. Speaking after attending a community programme in DUN Bukit Batu, Onn Hafiz said the event provided him with another opportunity to engage with Johoreans, listen to their views and receive their support as the campaign period draws to a close. He thanked residents who attended the programme and shared their aspirations, describing the nearly two-week campaign as an opportunity for BN leaders and candidates to get closer to the people while outlining their plans for Johor. Onn Hafiz said the coalition had worked hard throughout the campaign to earn the trust of voters and would now leave the final decision in the hands of the people. He appealed to voters to support BN candidates contesting in the area, namely Mohd Jafni Md Shukor for N.50 Bukit Permai, Kumaran Rama Krishnan for N.51 Bukit Batu, and Kiki Tai for N.52 Senai. According to Onn Hafiz, the three candidates possess the experience, capability and determination needed to become effective representatives who will listen to the people's concerns, work diligently and prioritise the interests of Johoreans. He also urged eligible voters to fulfil their civic responsibility by casting their ballots on 11 July, encouraging them to exercise their democratic right wisely and support Barisan Nasional candidates. Amirudin Shari Launches SIBS@ASEAN 2026 Bandung Edition to Strengthen Selangor–West Java Economic Cooperation

BANDUNG, JULY 9 -- Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari today launched the inaugural SIBS@ASEAN 2026 Bandung Edition, marking the first time the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) has expanded beyond Selangor and Malaysia. Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain Warning For Eight States Until 7 Pm

KUALA LUMPUR, July 9 -- The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm, heavy rain and strong winds warning for eight states until 7 pm today. MetMalaysia, in a statement, said the affected areas are Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu in Kedah, as well as Larut, Matang dan Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar and Kinta in Perak. Similar weather conditions are also forecast for Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Tanah Merah, Bachok, Machang and Pasir Puteh in Kelantan; Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus and Kuala Terengganu in Terengganu; and Cameron Highlands in Pahang. Malaysia, Thailand Strengthen Bilateral Ties as Anwar Meets Anutin in Putrajaya

PUTRAJAYA, JULY 9 -- Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today held a bilateral meeting with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul at the Perdana Putra Complex, focusing on efforts to strengthen Malaysia-Thailand relations and expand cooperation in key areas. Anutin arrived in Malaysia today for a two-day official visit at Anwar’s invitation. He was welcomed by Anwar at the Bunga Raya Complex before both leaders proceeded to Putrajaya for the meeting.
