KUALA LUMPUR — The 219th Police Day celebration was marked nationwide today with a strong sense of pride and patriotism, honouring the dedication and sacrifices of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in safeguarding the country’s peace and sovereignty for more than 200 years.
The annual event not only reflected on the force’s long-standing history but also paid tribute to the unwavering commitment of its personnel in serving both the nation and the community.
In the capital, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim attended the celebration at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre (PULAPOL), where he officiated the launch of the MESRA PDRM Book, a crime awareness initiative aimed at children and teenagers.
Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail and Deputy IGP Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.
In Selangor, approximately 200 attendees comprising police officers, personnel, retirees and members of the public gathered at the North Klang district police headquarters (IPD) celebration held at the hall of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Soo Jin in Kapar.
North Klang police chief ACP S. Vijaya Rao presented certificates of appreciation to 50 recipients, including 20 members of the public, in recognition of their cooperation, information sharing and active involvement in police initiatives throughout the past year.
In Negeri Sembilan, the celebration was officiated by state deputy police chief SAC Mohd Nasharudin Mohd Shariff, who delivered the Inspector-General of Police’s message before an audience of 275 officers and personnel.
Certificates of appreciation were also awarded to 17 individuals, including NGO representatives, members of the public and media personnel, for their contributions and support towards PDRM.
Meanwhile, in Pahang, state police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman attended the event at the PDRM Logistics Complex in Kuantan, where 22 individuals comprising officers, personnel and members of the public received letters of appreciation for their service and dedication.
In Terengganu, 43 recipients, including police personnel, officers and members of the Terengganu Police Family Association (PERKEP), were recognised for their excellent service at the state-level celebration held at the police contingent headquarters (IPK).
The event, which featured poetry recitals, a war dance performance and a special montage, took place at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin and was officiated by Terengganu deputy police chief SAC Suffian Sulaiman, with around 500 attendees.
In Perlis, state deputy police chief SAC Zaihairul Idrus officiated the celebration at the Perlis IPK hall in Kangar, where 48 recipients, including PDRM strategic partners such as SUKSIS, auxiliary police, retirees and media practitioners, were honoured with letters of appreciation.
In Penang, state deputy police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin, representing state police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail, delivered the Inspector-General of Police’s message to about 400 officers and civil servants at the Marine Police Force Region 1 headquarters community hall in Batu Uban, George Town.
He also presented letters of appreciation to 14 strategic partners, including Penang Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) director Datuk S. Karunanithy, as well as 17 PERKEP members, acknowledging their continued cooperation with the police.
In Sarawak, the state-level celebration was officiated by Deputy Police Commissioner DCP Saifullizan Ishak at the Sarawak IPK.
The ceremony saw police personnel and members of the public receiving letters of appreciation for their contributions and dedication to the Sang Saka Biru force and society, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony symbolising the occasion
