50% Toll Discount for Aidilfitri From Midnight, March 18

KUALA LUMPUR: The government has announced a 50 percent toll discount in conjunction with Aidilfitri to ease the cost of people’s travel back to their hometowns.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the decision was reached through a Cabinet Meeting, with a financial commitment of RM21.03 million for the purpose of compensation to the toll concessionaire company.

“This toll discount will be effective from 12.01 midnight on 18 March 2026 (Wednesday) until 11.59 pm on 19 March 2026 (Thursday).

“It involves Class 1 private vehicles on all highways, except at the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) Toll Plaza and Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza, Malaysia-Singapore Second Link Highway (LINKEDUA),” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, added that the provision of free toll discounts is in addition to several measures that have been implemented previously, such as the initial payment of the Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR) Phase 2 to 5.2 million recipients, involving an allocation of RM1.3 billion.

The Prime Minister added that the MADANI Government, through the Malaysian Insolvency Department, will also implement a Fast Track bankruptcy relief initiative, involving approximately 4,000 individuals, especially single mothers and fathers, who will be freed from the shackles of bankruptcy in conjunction with Aidilfitri.

According to Anwar, all these measures are a manifestation of the values of kindness and humanity which are the core of the MADANI Government to ensure that the people continue to enjoy the benefits of the prosperity achieved together.
