KLANG, July 23, 2026 — A former e-hailing driver pleaded not guilty in separate courts today to 12 charges involving armed robbery, cheating and theft, which allegedly caused losses exceeding RM90,000 in cash and jewellery.
B. Murugan, 52, claimed trial after the charges were read in Tamil before a Sessions Court judge and three magistrates.
At the Sessions Court, he was charged with two counts of armed robbery involving two local women, both aged 74, at Taman Sri Sentosa and Bandar Sultan Sulaiman on Jan 3, 2024, and Feb 10 this year. The offences allegedly involved the use of a knife.
He also faced 10 additional charges at the Magistrates’ Courts, including five counts of cheating, four counts of theft — one of which involved theft in a building — and one count of robbery. The offences allegedly involved 10 women aged between 57 and 77 in the Klang area from 2022 to this year.
The prosecution proposed bail ranging from RM4,000 to RM12,000 for each charge, while the defence sought a lower amount, citing the accused’s financial situation, family responsibilities and heart condition.
The court granted Murugan total bail of RM46,000. The case will be mentioned again on Sept 9 at the Sessions Court and Oct 13 at the Magistrates’ Court.
