BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Aug 21 2026 Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived in Brunei today for a two-day working visit to attend the 27th Annual Leaders’ Consultation (ALC-27) between Malaysia and Brunei.
The special aircraft carrying Anwar and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, landed at Brunei International Airport at 6.10 pm.
They were received by Brunei Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Abdul Mateen Bolkiah.
Also present were Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Foreign Ministry Secretary-General Tan Sri Amran Mohamed Zin and Malaysian High Commissioner to Brunei Datuk Mohd Aini Atan.
Tomorrow, Anwar is scheduled to have an audience with Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and hold a four-eyed meeting with the Brunei monarch at Istana Nurul Iman.
Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Anwar are also expected to witness the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on disaster management cooperation.
The 27th ALC is the highest-level bilateral mechanism between Malaysia and Brunei. It provides an avenue for both leaders to review bilateral cooperation and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
In 2025, total trade between Malaysia and Brunei stood at RM5.86 billion (US$1.37 billion), with Malaysian exports to Brunei valued at RM4.20 billion (US$980 million) and imports at RM1.66 billion (US$390 million).
For January to June 2026, total trade between the two countries reached RM2.38 billion (US$600 million).
