KUALA LUMPUR, August 26 2026 UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today extended his 77th anniversary greetings to UMNO Youth and urged the movement to remain relevant among the younger generation.
In a Facebook post, the Deputy Prime Minister said changing times had brought new challenges to UMNO Youth, including technological developments, changing mindsets and increasingly diverse voices among young people.
He said courage alone was not enough, and UMNO Youth must be guided by wisdom and knowledge, while translating them into ideas and actions that suit current times.
Ahmad Zahid said the movement’s major task was to ensure UMNO remains relevant and continues to have a place in the hearts of the younger generation.
He urged UMNO Youth to listen to young people’s views, provide opportunities for new talent and build confidence that young members are not merely followers but future inheritors of the party’s struggle.
He also expressed appreciation to UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh, its leadership and members at all levels for continuing to advance the party’s struggle.
Ahmad Zahid urged UMNO Youth to engage with young people in their language, understand their concerns and bring their aspirations into the party’s struggle.
He said the movement’s 77 years represented valuable experiences, challenges and lessons that could serve as a foundation for moving forward.
He hoped UMNO Youth would remain a platform for nurturing courage guided by reason, idealism grounded in reality and leaders prepared to shoulder future responsibilities.
