MELAKA, September 22, 2026 – Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh is expected to announce the dissolution of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly today, paving the way for the 16th state election.
The announcement is expected to be made at Kompleks Seri Negeri in Ayer Keroh following an earlier-than-usual state executive council meeting chaired by Ab Rauf this afternoon.
The Chief Minister’s Office has also invited members of the media to attend a press conference scheduled for 2 pm.
In the 2021 state election, Barisan Nasional (BN) won 21 of the 28 seats, while Pakatan Harapan (PH) secured five seats and Perikatan Nasional (PN) two.
The current state assembly’s term is scheduled to end in December 2026.
