MELAKA, September 23 2026, Melaka police have identified 3,150 personnel for deployment during the upcoming state election, including 1,500 reinforcements from outside the state.
Melaka Police Chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said preparations had been underway for the past three months, including simulations and training exercises, while police were also drawing on the experiences of other states that had conducted elections.
He said Melaka police would work with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to monitor social media throughout the election period.
The public was also reminded not to spread false or defamatory content, particularly those involving the 3R issues of religion, race and royalty.
In a separate development, Dzulkhairi said a proposal to establish the Hang Tuah Jaya District Police Headquarters was submitted to Bukit Aman last year and is currently being reviewed by its Research and Development division.
The proposed headquarters aims to address population growth and density in the Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council area, which covers parts of Melaka Tengah, Alor Gajah and Jasin districts.
