Two Women Killed in Five-Vehicle Collision in Terengganu

BANDAR PERMAISURI, 10 October 2026,  Two women died in a five-vehicle collision along Jalan Kuala Terengganu–Kota Bharu near Kampung Selamat this afternoon.

The victims were identified as Nur Fauziah Ismail, 38, who was driving a Proton Waja, and her front-seat passenger, Zawiah Halias, 41. Both were traders.

Setiu District Police Chief Supt Zahril Asri Mohd Zain said police received a report at about 4 pm, with the accident believed to have occurred at 3.45 pm.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the Proton Waja, travelling from Kota Bharu towards Kuala Terengganu, allegedly skidded into the opposite lane before colliding with a Mercedes-Benz trailer.

The trailer subsequently skidded and grazed three other vehicles travelling in the same direction: a Perodua Aruz, a Perodua Myvi and a UDT lorry.

Both women were pronounced dead at the scene, and their bodies were taken to the Setiu Hospital Forensic Unit for further procedures.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Zahril Asri urged motorists to comply with traffic regulations and appealed to witnesses to contact the Setiu District Police Headquarters Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division to assist with the investigation.
