Thousands Attend DAP Teluk Intan 60th Anniversary Dinner, Nga Kor Ming Calls for Unity Amid Global Uncertainty

Nga also expressed hope that in the next election, DAP will not only retain the Teluk Intan parliamentary seat and the Pasir Bedamar state seat, but also secure the Changkat Jong state seat, which Pakatan Harapan narrowly lost in the previous election.

During his speech, he shared several achievements of the MADANI Government over the past three years under the leadership of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Among the highlights he cited were the strengthening of the Malaysian ringgit as one of the best-performing currencies in Asia, the national unemployment rate dropping to 2.9 percent — its lowest level in 11 years — and Malaysia’s total trade reaching a new record of over RM3 trillion.

He added that Malaysia’s global competitiveness ranking has improved to 23rd place, while the country’s Corruption Perceptions Index ranking has also improved from 67th to 54th.

“In conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year, the country is expected to attract up to 47 million tourists from around the world. These are achievements that Malaysians can be proud of under the MADANI Government,” he said.

Nga also warned that rising geopolitical tensions and the possibility of global conflicts could impact the world economy, including causing a surge in global oil prices.

He said the MADANI Government has been preparing to face global uncertainties and has taken proactive measures to safeguard the welfare of Malaysians.

According to him, while petrol prices in neighbouring Singapore have risen to around RM10.30 per litre, the government continues to bear high subsidy costs to ensure Malaysians do not have to pay such high prices.

“The BUDI95 initiative with petrol priced at RM1.99 is a major effort by the government to assist the people,” he said.

He added that the Prime Minister has also instructed ministers and civil servants to postpone overseas official trips unless absolutely necessary as part of efforts to reduce government expenditure.

The Cabinet has also decided that the National Economic Action Council will hold weekly meetings to discuss immediate measures in response to rapidly evolving global developments.

“These measures show that under the leadership of the MADANI Government, Malaysia can maintain political stability even amid global conflict while minimising its economic impact,” he said.

During the event, Nga also announced that the dinner successfully raised RM52,274 in funds.

He stressed that although DAP is now part of the government, the party remains committed to the principle that government funds must not be used for party purposes. As such, annual fundraising events will continue to be organised to support party activities.

Also delivering speeches at the event were Perak DAP secretary and Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh, DAP National Vice Chairman Ng Suee Lim, and DAPSY chief and Perak State Executive Councillor Woo Kah Leong.

Among those present were Perak State Executive Councillor Loh Sze Yee, organising committee chairman Khor Ling Xian, as well as DAP Members of Parliament, state assemblymen and grassroots leaders from across Perak.
