MASJID TANAH, October 28, 2026 — Barisan Nasional (BN) aims to retain five state assembly seats under the Masjid Tanah parliamentary constituency in the upcoming Melaka state election.
Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the coalition was relying on its development record and ongoing projects to seek another mandate from voters.
He highlighted several initiatives, including a flood mitigation project worth about RM430 million and a road-widening project valued at RM36 million.
BN Highlights Development Projects
Ab Rauf said the projects were part of the state government’s efforts to improve local infrastructure and meet residents’ needs.
He urged BN’s election machinery to work towards retaining all five seats in the constituency.
The seats are Kuala Linggi, Tanjung Bidara, Ayer Limau, Lendu and Taboh Naning.
New Industrial Area Planned in Lubok China
Ab Rauf also announced plans to gazette about 2,000 acres of land in Lubok China as a new industrial area.
The proposed development is expected to create economic opportunities for residents and nearby communities.
He also pointed to education and skills training facilities in Ayer Limau, including the National Youth Skills Institute, MARA Higher Skills College and community colleges.
Tourism and Traffic Management Plans
The state government is also promoting tourism through the Cruise Sungai Linggi attraction in Paya Lebar, Ayer Limau.
The initiative aims to draw more visitors to the area and support local economic activity.
Meanwhile, the government is studying a proposal to introduce one-way traffic routes along selected roads in Masjid Tanah.
Ab Rauf said the proposal would be considered after the government obtained feedback from community leaders and other relevant parties.
He added that the state government’s approach focused on development and public welfare, while stressing the importance of continuing planned projects.
