Ginie Lim Invites Machap Jaya Rivals to Discuss Constituency Development

ALOR GAJAH, Oct 31 – Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Datuk Ginie Lim Siew Lin has invited her two opponents in the Melaka state election to discuss development plans for Machap Jaya.

She said the proposed open dialogue would allow candidates to exchange ideas and focus on the needs of local residents.

Lim hopes the discussion will move the campaign away from personal attacks and negative remarks.

Instead, she wants candidates to focus on practical solutions that can improve the constituency over the next five years.

Two Candidates Respond to Ginie Lim’s Invitation

Lim extended invitations to Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Datuk Ngwe Hee Sem and Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) candidate B. Prasanth Kumar.

Ngwe said he had not decided whether to accept the invitation. He explained that he needed to review his campaign schedule.

He also felt that the campaign period was not the right time for an open dialogue. Ngwe said he already understood residents’ concerns after serving as their representative for five years.

Meanwhile, Prasanth welcomed the proposal. He described it as an opportunity for candidates to share ideas and discuss plans for the community.

He said candidates might have different approaches, but they shared the same goal of improving Machap Jaya.

Ginie Lim Highlights Her Previous Experience

Lim previously won the Machap Jaya seat in the 2018 Melaka state election.

She also served as a state executive councillor. Her portfolios included Women, Family Development, Welfare Affairs and Orang Asli Community.

Lim described her contest against Ngwe as a friendly rivalry. Both candidates have experience serving in the state executive council.

Prasanth also highlighted his political and administrative experience. He previously contested the Rim state seat and served in government-related roles.

Machap Jaya Election Results and Polling Dates

Lim won Machap Jaya in 2018 with a majority of 1,336 votes.

However, Ngwe won the seat in the 2021 state election. He defeated Pakatan Harapan candidate Law Bing Haw by 938 votes in a five-cornered contest.

The Election Commission has set Nov 10 for early voting and Nov 14 as polling day for the 16th Melaka state election.
