Anwar Praises NGO Peace Initiatives as Mark of National Progress

KUALA LUMPUR, March 19 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has welcomed recent peace initiatives led by non-governmental organisations (NGOs) representing both Muslim and Hindu communities, describing them as a reflection of the people’s growing maturity in choosing unity over division.

In a media statement today, Anwar said the move demonstrated a collective commitment to peaceful coexistence, mutual respect and social harmony.

“This is the true spirit and soul of Malaysia — a nation firmly built on values of compassion, togetherness and respect among its diverse communities,” he said.

He stressed that such unity must be preserved and strengthened as a cornerstone of the nation’s resilience and progress.

The Prime Minister also expressed his appreciation to all parties involved, including the Royal Malaysia Police, for their role in ensuring the success of the initiative.

Anwar added that he hopes the effort will continue to bring Malaysians closer together and serve as a model in reinforcing national unity.
