Kuala Lumpur, April 3, 2026 — Deputy Minister of Human Resources, YB Ramanan, today officially inaugurated the Talk and Share Programme: Traversing May 1, 2026 – KESUMA Workers of the Nation, marking a key step in the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Malaysia’s employment ecosystem ahead of this year’s National Workers’ Day celebration. Speaking at the launch, YB Ramanan described the programme as a strategic platform designed to unite government representatives, employers, and employees in a constructive dialogue space. He emphasized that such engagement is crucial to ensure that policies and initiatives are grounded in current realities and reflect the actual needs of stakeholders across the nation’s labor landscape. “Workers are the backbone of our economic stability and growth. Their welfare must be continuously safeguarded through inclusive policies, comprehensive social protection, and balanced, trust-based corporate relationships,” he said. The initiative aligns with the aspirations of MADANI Malaysia, with the government reaffirming its commitment to sustainable and meaningful economic growth. This includes a strong focus on improving job quality, ensuring worker welfare, and creating fair opportunities for all segments of the workforce. YB Ramanan also highlighted several ongoing and upcoming initiatives led by the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA). Among them is the enforcement of the Gig Workers Act 2025, aimed at protecting more than 1.6 million gig workers nationwide. Additionally, the development of the PERKESO Traveler Scheme seeks to enhance protection for cross-border workers, while continued efforts are being made to strengthen support systems for women in the workforce, particularly in maternity protection. He expressed hope that the May 1 Monitoring Programme would serve as a catalyst for stronger collaboration among all parties involved. “This initiative is not just a programme, but a platform to build mutual understanding and cooperation. Together, we can shape a more resilient, inclusive, and competitive future for Malaysia’s workforce,” he added.
