KUALA LUMPUR, 14 APRIL — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today officiated the Malaysia Sepak Takraw Academy Complex, describing it as a symbol of determination, hard work and commitment by the nation’s sepak takraw community to restore the sport’s glory.
He said sepak takraw is not merely a game, but a national identity that reflects discipline, resilience and the beauty of a traditional sport that has long brought pride to Malaysia on the world stage.
According to him, the journey has not been without challenges, but the spirit to rise again is now stronger than ever.

“We have experienced both setbacks and successes, but today we rise with greater determination to restore the glory of sepak takraw,” he said.
Anwar also called on the younger generation to fully utilise the academy’s facilities to hone their talents, build character and instil a strong sense of patriotism.
“We aim to produce a generation of athletes who not only excel on the court, but also possess the strength of character to uphold the nation’s dignity,” he added.
He stressed that the government is committed to ensuring the complex becomes a starting point for a new era of resurgence, positioning Malaysia once again as a formidable force in the international sepak takraw arena.
As a sign of continued support, Anwar also announced an allocation of RM2 million to enhance training facilities, improve the academy’s comfort and strengthen the role of the Sepak Takraw Association.
