He said among the offences recorded were not having a Motor Vehicle Licence, with 402 notices issued, not possessing a Competent Driving Licence (410 notices), technical offences (393), no insurance coverage (342 notices), and major offences (145). “The major offences included not wearing a seat belt, which topped the list with 51 notices, followed by not wearing a helmet (36 notices) and carrying excessive load (18 notices),” he said in a statement today. He added that during the same period, a total of 17,236 vehicles were inspected, with eight motorcycles, 15 cars and eight staff buses impounded as they were deemed unsafe or unfit to be on the road.
