KUALA LUMPUR: The mentality of refusing to give up is the key to the success of national Moto3 racer Muhammad Hakim Danish Ramli, who managed to achieve his first podium finish of the season by finishing third in the Italian Grand Prix (GP) at the Mugello Circuit, yesterday.
The AEON Credit-MT Helmets-MSi team rider, who was happy with the result, said he gave it his all from the start of the race and stayed focused until he managed to get on the podium.
“The race was very intense. The front group was constantly changing positions and we were racing at the maximum from start to finish. I knew that one small mistake could change everything.
“Although I fell a little behind on the last lap, I didn’t give up. I just tried to stay calm and find space to overtake other riders one by one and Alhamdulillah that strategy paid off for me to reach the podium,” he said in a statement today.
The Danish judge was 0.456 seconds (s) behind the race winner, Brian Uriarte of the Red Bull KTM Ajo team who clocked 33 minutes 07.80s.
Second place went to Uriarte’s teammate, Alvaro Carpe, who recorded a time of 33:08.219s.
Hakim Danish’s achievement at the Italian GP saw him end Malaysia’s podium drought in the Moto3 competition since the last time it was achieved by Khairul Idham Pawi when he emerged champion of the Argentine GP in 2016.
The 18-year-old rider is currently ranked 11th in the Moto3 championship standings, collecting 43 points behind leader Maximo Quiles, who represents the CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team (145 points).
The Danish judge will continue his challenge in the eighth race of the season at the Hungarian GP from June 5-7.
