GLASGOW, Aug 1 2026 — National track cyclist Nurul Izzah Izzati Mohd Asri described her fourth-place finish in the women’s sprint at the 2026 Commonwealth Games as a valuable experience that will strengthen her ahead of future international competitions.
Despite narrowly missing out on a podium finish, the 22-year-old remained upbeat, saying the campaign had highlighted areas that require improvement as she continues her development against some of the world’s top riders.
Nurul Izzah said competing against elite opponents provided important lessons, particularly in race tactics, decision-making and maintaining consistency under pressure.
She added that the result has motivated her to work harder in training, with her focus now shifting towards improving her performance in upcoming international meets.
The Kedah-born cyclist thanked her coaches, teammates and Malaysians for their unwavering support, pledging to return stronger and continue striving for success on the world stage.
Although she finished just outside the medals, Nurul Izzah’s performance reinforced her growing reputation as one of Malaysia’s brightest track cycling prospects, having consistently improved her personal bests and gained valuable experience on the international stage.
