JOHOR BAHRU, June 9 — Johor Menteri Besar, Onn Hafiz Ghazi, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to easing the burden of rising living costs through the continued implementation of the Bantuan Bakul Kasih Johor (BKJ) programme, with an allocation exceeding RM30 million set to benefit more than 550,000 families across all 56 state constituencies (DUNs) in Johor.
Speaking during a community engagement programme in Johor Jaya, Onn Hafiz said the initiative reflects the state government’s ongoing efforts to ensure that assistance reaches those most affected by economic challenges.
The Menteri Besar personally distributed Bakul Kasih Johor food basket assistance to residents during a Parents’ Day celebration held in Johor Jaya, which was attended by members of the local community in a warm and harmonious atmosphere.
He also extended the aid to several families in need while officiating the opening of the Sri Maha Muniswarar Temple Hall in Desa Cemerlang, Ulu Tiram.
According to Onn Hafiz, the BKJ programme remains a key welfare initiative aimed at ensuring that no Johorean is left behind, particularly low-income households, senior citizens, single mothers, and families facing financial pressures due to the rising cost of living.
He stressed that the assistance is provided regardless of religion, race, or background, reflecting the state government’s commitment to inclusivity and social welfare.
“The implementation of Bantuan Bakul Kasih Johor is part of our continuous effort to provide meaningful support to those in need and to ensure that every citizen receives appropriate assistance,” he said.
Onn Hafiz added that the Johor government will continue strengthening its people-centric welfare agenda through various initiatives designed to improve the quality of life and well-being of Johoreans.
He expressed hope that the programme would continue to deliver lasting benefits and contribute to a more prosperous, inclusive, and resilient Johor for all.
“Insha-Allah, these efforts will continue to bring positive and long-term benefits to the people of Johor,” he said.
