KUALA LUMPUR: A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 was detected off the east coast of Kamchatka, Russia at 2.52 pm this afternoon.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) in a statement announced that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres (km) with the epicentre detected 128 km east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, Russia.
However, initial assessments found that there was no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
