KULAI, July 1 — Barisan Nasional (BN) is confident of gaining the support of voters in the four Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) clusters in the Kulai Parliament in the 16th Johor State Election (PRN), which is set for July 11.
Kulai BN chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor said the area involved the Bukit Permai State Legislative Assembly (DUN) which houses three FELDA clusters, namely Taib Andak, Inas and Bukit Permai with nearly 7,000 voters, in addition to FELDA Bukit Batu in the Bukit Batu DUN.
He, who is also the BN candidate for the Bukit Permai state seat, said the confidence was based on the state government’s continued commitment under the leadership of Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi towards the welfare and well-being of FELDA residents.
“In the 2018 general election, votes in FELDA areas were somewhat affected, but there was an increase in the 2022 general election. Alhamdulillah, in these four years the state government has successfully resolved many issues in FELDA.
“The state government also channelled various allocations including educational assistance to FELDA children through the Johor Education Foundation (YPJ). We expect the trend of support for BN to continue to increase in FELDA areas,” he told Bernama here, today.
Apart from that, Mohd Jafni said the Johor state government had also successfully resolved the issue of grant ownership that had long plagued some FELDA residents, with the achievement of 99.9 percent completion of settler title applications as proof of the commitment to helping the planned land community.
The former Johor Housing and Local Government Exco member also hoped that the people of Johor would continue to give the BN a mandate to lead the state, to continue the development agenda that has been planned for the well-being of the people.
“We will do our best in all three state constituencies in the Kulai Parliament, not only to defend Bukit Permai, but also to seize Bukit Batu and Senai.”
“Many initiatives have been implemented in these four years, but they require continuity for two terms to ensure Johor continues to progress and the results can be returned to the people,” he said.
In the Johor state election, Mohd Jafni, who is defending the Bukit Permai state seat, will face competition from four corners, namely from the candidates of the United Malaysia Party (Bersama), Muhammad Aidil Riduan Mohd Yusof; Pakatan Harapan (Mohamad Shafwan Ani); and Perikatan Nasional (M. Lina Manoh).
Overall, the Johor state election saw 172 candidates contesting for 56 state assembly seats with polling day set for July 11, while early voting was on July 7.
