SEREMBAN, July 20 – Pakatan Harapan (PH) has called on all political parties and campaign teams to avoid acts of hatred and vandalism during the Negeri Sembilan 16th State Election campaign, following reports of damage involving its campaign materials in several constituencies.
In a statement, the PH Election Operations Centre said it had received reports of campaign material damage, including a burned party flag in N06 Palong last night and damaged flag poles in N31 Chembong this morning.
PH said it reserves the right to take legal action under Section 4A of the Election Offences Act 1954 and Section 427 of the Penal Code if investigations prove that election materials such as posters, flags or banners were intentionally damaged, removed or vandalised.
The party said election operations directors at the affected constituencies have been advised to lodge the necessary police reports, while stressing that PH has not accused any party of being responsible at this stage.
PH also urged its members and machinery not to retaliate against any provocation that could disrupt the peaceful election environment.
The coalition called on all candidates and supporters to conduct campaigns based on clear policies and ideas, rather than engaging in acts of hatred or sabotage.
“Win the hearts of voters through clear policies, not through baseless politics of hatred and vandalism,” PH said.
