SAARBRUCKEN, Germany, — Malaysia’s men’s doubles pair Aaron Tai and Yap Roy King have advanced to the second round of the Hylo Open after securing a convincing win in Germany.
The Malaysian duo defeated home players Malik Borakkadi and Kenneth Neumann in straight games. They won 21-11, 21-12 in just 28 minutes.
The victory gives Aaron and Roy King a strong start to the tournament at Saarlandhalle.
Malaysians continue winning form
The win follows the pair’s success at the Arctic Open Super 500 in Finland three weeks ago. That victory marked their first title since they reunited under national men’s doubles coach Herri Iman Pierngadi.
The Hylo Open is their fourth consecutive tournament in Europe. Before arriving in Germany, they competed at the Denmark Open and French Open.
However, they exited both tournaments in the second round. They will now look to build on their latest win and progress further in Germany.
Tough test awaits in next round
Aaron and Roy King will face either Indonesia’s top-seeded pair, Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, or England’s Alex Green and Zach Russ.
The second-round match is scheduled for Thursday.
The Malaysians will aim to maintain their momentum as they continue their campaign at the Hylo Open.
