KUALA LUMPUR, June 11 -- UMNO will continue to support the Unity Government that was formed after the 15th General Election (GE15) until the next general election, in line with the decree of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, Kinfg of Malaysia. UMNO Secretary-General Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said this stance was decided during the UMNO Supreme Council (MKT) meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also the UMNO President, at Menara Dato’ Onn here tonight. At the same time, he stated that the agreement to form the Unity Government at the Federal level does not bind any state government. According to him, the Johor State Government was formed before the creation of the Federal-level Unity Government and did not involve parties from Pakatan Harapan (PH). Asyraf Wajdi added that the decision by UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) to defend the state mandate is not a form of betrayal against the Federal Government, as claimed by certain parties. "On the contrary, it is a legitimate, mature, and constitutional democratic practice that fully returns the mandate to the people," he said. He also mentioned that UMNO remains open to any form of cooperation with any party for the sake of the country's political stability and the well-being of the people; however, any cooperation must be built upon the principles of sincerity and trust. -- BERNAMA

KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 — Perikatan Nasional (PN) component parties PAS, Gerakan and the Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP) will hold urgent discussions this week on the future direction of the coalition following PAS’ decision to end its political cooperation with Bersatu. PN Information Chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the move was made after various efforts to sustain the PAS-Bersatu relationship failed to produce any meaningful change. However, he stressed that the decision only affects the taawun siyasi (political cooperation) between PAS and Bersatu and does not automatically impact PN as a coalition. “The position of PN will be discussed collectively among its component parties, particularly PAS, Gerakan and MIPP,” Annuar said in a Facebook post. He said PAS remains committed to multi-racial political cooperation and its agenda of mature and prosperous politics, while expressing appreciation for the positive role played by Gerakan and MIPP within PN. Annuar also stressed that any future decisions concerning the coalition must be guided by the PN constitution and collective consultation rather than the dominance or perceived superiority of any individual or political party. He added that meetings involving PAS, Gerakan and MIPP have already been scheduled and will be expedited. The development raises questions over the future configuration of PN, with coalition leaders expected to deliberate on the next course of action in the coming days. KUALA LUMPUR: PAS is likely to leave or be expelled from the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition after deciding to end its collaboration with Bersatu, according to political analysts. Director of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Kuala Lumpur, Associate Professor Dr Mazlan Ali, said PAS cannot determine the direction of PN alone because the political coalition also includes Bersatu, Gerakan and the Malaysian Indian People's Party (MIPP). "PAS only represents one voice... since PAS has severed ties with Bersatu, there is a possibility that the three component parties in PN will decide to expel PAS, and the coalition is expected to be led by Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin," he told Bernama. He said PAS was likely to form a new political alignment to face the next election, thus further breaking the opposition bloc. "We will see two opposition blocs ahead of the 16th General Election (GE16), namely PN led by Bersatu and another new alignment led by PAS," he said. Mazlan also said the split between PAS and Bersatu could potentially give an advantage to Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) if Malay support was no longer concentrated in one opposition coalition. Yesterday, PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang announced that the party had officially decided to end political cooperation with Bersatu after taking into account reports, studies and current assessments of the relationship between the two parties. Following the decision, Muhyiddin in a statement today announced that Bersatu, as the founding party of PN, will continue to remain in the coalition and strengthen the core of its struggle. Universiti Sains Malaysia's Centre for Social Sciences lecturer Professor Datuk Dr Sivamurugan Pandian said PAS and Bersatu were expected to face political repercussions following the decision, as well as major challenges in gaining voter support. He said Bersatu was expected to be more affected because it relied heavily on the strength of the PAS machinery and grassroots support. "However, PAS also faces the challenge of expanding its influence in mixed areas without the support of strategic partners," he said. Sivamurugan said the development also created uncertainty within the opposition bloc and opened up space for other parties to formulate strategies to strengthen their positions ahead of the 16th GE. -- BERNAMA

BATU PAHAT: PAS's record of political cooperation shows that it will end in 'divorce', said Pakatan Harapan (PH) secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. He said the latest development regarding the cooperation between PAS and Bersatu was not unusual when viewed based on the political history of the parties. Saifuddin Nasution said PAS had formed collaborations with many parties including Semangat 46, PH, UMNO and Bersatu, but all of these collaborations ultimately did not last. "Anyone who joins him (PAS) ends up with divorce. The issue is single talaq or double talaq or triple talaq, that's all," he told reporters after the Home Minister's Citra Negara Program: Safe Schools at the Batu Pahat High Technology Training Centre (ADTEC) here, today. He said that although the reason often put forward by PAS is the unification of the ummah, the concept cannot be interpreted according to the wishes or interests of certain parties. Saifuddin Nasution said the true political principles of Islam are to uphold justice, call for goodness, prevent evil and instill love and unity among society. Meanwhile, he stressed that PH's strength does not depend on the division of its opponents, but rather is built through relationships based on trust and respect between its component parties. "We do not become strong because our opponents are divided. We become strong because we build our own strength. In PH, that strength is built through joint efforts and the principles of mutual trust and mutual respect," he said. KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 — The PAS Supporters' Assembly (DHPP) expresses its full respect and support for the PAS leadership's decision regarding the direction of the party's political cooperation as announced by the PAS President. DHPP Central Information Chief, Dr. Balachandran Gopal Krishnan said that in the political world, not all forms of cooperation can be maintained forever because every political relationship needs to be assessed based on compatibility of goals, direction of struggle and the ability to bring greater benefits to the people and the country. According to him, PAS has shown courage in making decisions that may be difficult and unpopular, but are considered necessary to ensure that the party's struggle continues to move forward clearly and consistently. "Sometimes, long-term stability requires difficult decisions to be made today," he said in a statement on Tuesday. He stressed that PAS remains committed to efforts to create unity, political stability and an administration with integrity, with these principles continuing to be a guide in determining any form of political cooperation in the future. At the same time, DHPP calls on Malaysians to continue to practice maturity in politics, by accepting differences of opinion and approach as part of healthy democratic practices. "Differences in views should not lead to prolonged hostility. The main focus should be given to efforts to develop the country, strengthen the economy and safeguard the welfare of the people," he said. DHPP also sees the decision as part of a dynamic political process and will continue to play a role as a bridge connecting communities of various races and religions with the PAS struggle. According to Dr. Balachandran, DHPP will continue to explain that PAS's main goal is to bring about a fair, stable administration that benefits all Malaysians. "The political journey is always changing, but the values of integrity, principles and sincerity in serving the people must remain a priority," he said. -- MINUTESMY -- SOURCE: PRESS KL

JOHOR BAHRU, June 8, 2026 – Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman and Johor Menteri Besar, Onn Hafiz Ghazi, has firmly stated that DAP has never been part of the BN-led Johor state government and will not be included in the administration as long as the people of Johor continue to give BN the mandate to govern the state. According to Onn Hafiz, the stance is not rooted in arrogance or racial considerations, but rather in principles, the mandate entrusted by the people, and BN Johor’s responsibility to safeguard the interests of Bangsa Johor. “This is not about arrogance. Nor is it about race. It is about principles, mandate, and responsibility to Bangsa Johor,” he said in a statement. As the chairman of BN Johor, Onn Hafiz said he is committed to serving all communities in the state and has a duty to respect the aspirations of grassroots members at every level who want the coalition to contest the 2026 Johor State Election independently. He also stressed that the political situation at the federal level should not be equated with the circumstances in Johor. According to him, the cooperation between BN and Pakatan Harapan (PH) at the federal level was formed following the 15th General Election (GE15) upon the decree of the then Yang di-Pertuan Agong, after no political coalition secured a clear majority to form the federal government. “The federal government and the Johor state government are two different entities. At the federal level, BN cooperated with PH after GE15 following the decree of the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong when no coalition had sufficient numbers to form a government,” he explained. Onn Hafiz emphasized that the situation in Johor is fundamentally different, as BN was given a clear mandate by voters to govern the state. He said the BN-led Johor administration has demonstrated stability and delivered results through various development and people-centric initiatives. “In Johor, BN was given a clear mandate by the people. We have established a stable state government. We have proven our performance, and we have a responsibility to continue this work without being disrupted by political maneuvering that could undermine the state's stability,” he said. The Johor Menteri Besar further stressed that Johor has its own political approach aimed at preserving stability and ensuring the continuity of development efforts for the benefit of its people. “In Johor, we have our own way. This is UMNO Johor. This is BN Johor. This is Bangsa Johor,” he added. The statement is seen as reinforcing BN Johor’s position ahead of the 2026 Johor State Election while providing a clear indication of the coalition’s political direction as it seeks to maintain its administration and mandate in the state. -- MINUTESMY -- SOURCE: FB ONN HAFIZ GHAZI
