KLANG, April 1 -- Man believed to be driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs that caused the death of a motorcyclist on Jalan Raya Barat here, arrived at the Klang Court today to face charges. The man in his 20s arrived at about 8.50am escorted by police personnel and officers. The man was previously remanded for four days starting Monday, to assist in investigations under Section 44 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Last Sunday, South Klang District Police Chief ACP Lim Jit Huey said a motorcyclist was killed when he was hit by a car driver who was under the influence of alcohol and drugs in an incident at about 11.40am. The incident resulted in the victim, Amirul Hafiz Omar, 33, being thrown onto the roof of a Perodua Myvi before being confirmed dead at the scene. He said initial investigations found that the Honda City car driven by the suspect was heading towards Bandar Klang at a high speed and dangerously and is believed to have overtaken several vehicles before entering the opposite lane and hitting the victim's motorcycle. A video of the accident went viral on social media, showing a car speeding across the double lane and crashing into a motorcycle, sending the rider flying before being thrown onto another vehicle. Meanwhile, the victim's wife Nor Nadia Abdul Majid, 32, was also seen in court.

Drunk Driver, Tested Positive for Drugs and Caused Death to Be Charged in Court Today
