Drunk driver, positive for drugs among those arrested in Integrated Ops in Seremban

SEREMBAN, JUNE 21 -- Police arrested 10 men, including four drunk drivers and one who tested positive for drugs, in an Integrated Operation, Ops Samseng and Ops Samseng Jalanan, which was carried out in several locations around the district early this morning. Seremban District Police Chief ACP Mohd Yatim Osman said the operation carried out by the Seremban IPD Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) from 5pm yesterday to 4am this morning also resulted in the arrest of five individuals believed to be involved in street gang activities. He said 115 individuals and 105 vehicles were checked during the operation at four main locations, namely Jalan Sungai Ujong, Jalan Lingkaran Tengah, Jalan Bukit Kepayang and Jalan Rasah, involving three officers and 24 police personnel. "During the operation, we arrested four men who were driving under the influence of alcohol, one who tested positive for THC and five men believed to be involved in street gangs, all aged between 19 and 30. "As a result of this operation, 78 summonses were issued for various traffic offences, with the highest offence involving no driving licence in 20 cases, followed by expired motor vehicle licences in 15 cases and no insurance cover in eight cases," he said in a statement today. Mohd Yatim said that for Ops Samseng Jalanan, they will be investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous riding. Four drivers who were arrested for drunk driving are being investigated under Section 45A(1) of the same act after being found to have driven above the permitted alcohol limit, in addition to opening an investigation paper under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 against individuals who tested positive for drugs. Driver Charged With Murder In Fatal Crash In Klang, Admits To Drug Use

KLANG, April 1 (Bernama) -- A car driver believed to have been under the influence of drugs has been charged in the Magistrate’s Court here today with murder over the death of a motorcyclist in a crash on Sunday. R. Saktygaanapathy, 28, was charged with causing the death of Amirul Hafiz Omar, 33, at Jalan Raya Barat, Klang, at 11.47 am on March 29. The charge, framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, carries the death penalty or imprisonment of up to 40 years and, if not sentenced to death, a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction. No plea was recorded from the accused after the charge was read out before Magistrate M. Khartiyayini, as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court. In another charge at the same court, Saktygaanapathy pleaded guilty to self-administration of drugs believed to be benzodiazepine (Benzo) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) at the Narcotics Office of the South Klang District Police Headquarters (IPD) at 3.30 pm on the same day. He was charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for a fine of up to RM5,000, imprisonment of up to two years, or both, and may include a supervision order of up to three years upon conviction. Deputy Public Prosecutor Raja Zaizul Faridah Raja Zaharudin did not offer bail, citing the seriousness of the murder charge. The accused was unrepresented. The court then set June 3 for mention of all cases and the submission of pathology reports. Earlier, the accused arrived at the Klang Court complex at about 8.50 am in handcuffs, escorted by police officers. Meanwhile, the victim’s wife, Nor Nadia Abdul Majid, 32, was present in court to follow the proceedings. In the incident last Sunday, South Klang police Chief ACP Lim Jit Huey said the victim was killed after being struck by a car allegedly driven at high speed and in a dangerous manner in a crash on Jalan Raya Barat.

Drunk Driver Who Caused Death Of Motorcyclist Remanded For Four Days

KLANG, March 30 (Bernama) -- A man has been remanded for four days from today for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs and causing the death of a motorcyclist on Jalan Raya Barat here yesterday. Magistrate Siti Zubaidah Mahat issued the order to remand the man, who is in his 20s, to facilitate investigation under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Yesterday, Klang Selatan Police chief ACP Lim Jit Huey said the incident, which occurred at about 11.40 am, caused the victim, a man in his 30s, to be flung onto the roof of another car. He died on the spot. He said initial investigations found that a Honda City driven by a man heading towards Klang town was being dangerously driven at high speed. “Upon reaching the location, the driver is believed to have overtaken several vehicles before entering the opposite lane and colliding with the victim’s motorcycle. “The impact caused the victim to be flung onto a Perodua Myvi car.
