PETALING JAYA, August 6 2026 — Energizer Malaysia has launched the Energizer Ultimate Child Shield™, introducing what the company says is the world’s only coin lithium battery designed to prevent internal burns if swallowed by children.
Available in 2032, 2025 and 2016 sizes, the new battery is aimed at addressing growing safety concerns as coin lithium batteries become increasingly common in everyday devices such as key fobs, remote controls, tracking tags and toys.
According to Energizer, more than 3,500 coin lithium battery ingestion cases are reported annually in the United States, with incidents involving young children rising significantly over the past decade. A swallowed battery can cause severe internal burns within minutes, making rapid medical intervention essential.
The company said the Ultimate Child Shield™ battery features technology that prevents internal burning if ingested. It also includes Colour Alert technology, which turns a child’s mouth blue when the battery comes into contact with saliva, helping caregivers quickly identify a possible ingestion.
Other safety features include a non-toxic bitter coating to discourage swallowing and child-resistant packaging.
Energizer Holdings Senior Manager of Global Marketing Activation Aaron Ang said the launch reflects the company’s commitment to improving child safety through innovation as more household devices rely on coin lithium batteries.
The new battery range will be showcased at the TCE Baby Expo at MITEC from Oct 2 to 4 and at Mid Valley from Dec 3 to 6, before becoming available at selected retailers nationwide.
