KUALA TERENGGANU, October 24, 2026 — A total of 4.63 million people have benefited from 3,344 Agro MADANI Sales programmes organised nationwide by the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) from Jan 1 to Oct 11, generating RM24.72 million in consumer savings.
FAMA director-general Faisal Iswardi Ismail said the programmes involved 54,124 entrepreneurs and recorded total sales of RM77.65 million.
He said the initiative helped ease the cost of living by offering goods at affordable prices while creating additional opportunities for local entrepreneurs to increase their income.
FAMA has conducted 3,344 of the 5,000 sales sessions targeted for 2026, with the remaining programmes expected to be completed by the end of December.
Faisal Iswardi said the initiative offered savings of between 10 and 30 per cent while providing entrepreneurs across the country with an additional platform to market their products.
He was speaking at a press conference held in conjunction with the 2026 Terengganu Mega Agro MADANI Sales programme at Dataran Shahbandar on Saturday.
The Terengganu programme, which began on Oct 21 and runs until Oct 25, recorded sales exceeding RM800,000 in its first three days, surpassing the five-day target of RM690,000.
Sales were expected to reach RM1.3 million by the following day, while visitor numbers were projected to exceed 50,000.
Terengganu is the seventh of 10 locations selected for this year’s mega sales programme. The next event is scheduled to take place in Melaka from Nov 6 to 8, followed by Sarawak from Nov 27 to 29. The date for the final event in Johor will be announced later.
Also present at the press conference were FAMA board member Mohd Unit A. Bakar and Terengganu FAMA director Muhamad Fadlee Hassan.
FAMA Purchases 35 Million Eggs to Support Affordable Prices
Separately, Faisal Iswardi said FAMA had purchased 35 million eggs worth RM13.4 million between January and October for distribution through 152 of its marketing outlets.
The initiative aimed to help consumers obtain eggs at more affordable prices.
A visitor to the Terengganu programme, Shujairah Musa, 44, from Kampung Seberang Marang, said she arrived at 8am to purchase a RM5 food basket voucher.
The mother of four said the discounts helped her save between 20 and 30 per cent on household expenses.
Despite travelling some distance to attend the event, she said the affordable prices made the trip worthwhile, citing chicken priced at RM10, beef at RM20 per kilogramme and two kilogrammes of cooking oil for RM10.
Retired civil servant Ghazali Long, 72, from Gong Badak, said he and his wife took the opportunity to purchase groceries and fresh fruit at lower prices.
He added that the programme was particularly beneficial for larger families seeking to reduce their household spending.
