Melaka Polls: Mat Sabu Confident Adly Zahari Can Retain Bukit Katil Seat

MELAKA, Oct 31 – Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu is confident that Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Adly Zahari can retain the Bukit Katil state seat in the 2026 Melaka election.

Mohamad, better known as Mat Sabu, said his confidence came from the positive response Adly received from the public.

He shared his views while attending the nomination process at Dewan Tun Ali in Bukit Katil on Saturday.

Mat Sabu Backs Adly at Nomination Centre

Mat Sabu arrived at the nomination centre at about 8.40am to accompany Adly.

Amanah Women’s chief Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu, who is also Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister, was present as well.

Mat Sabu said supporters from several political parties had gathered at the centre. These included supporters of Barisan Nasional (BN) and PAS.

However, he remained hopeful that voters would support Adly in the coming election.

PH to Focus on Seats It Is Contesting

Mat Sabu said PH would concentrate its campaign efforts on the constituencies it is contesting.

He also acknowledged that some voters may find it difficult to distinguish between the achievements of PH and BN.

Both coalitions are part of the federal government. Therefore, achievements highlighted by either side may involve the same administration.

Mat Sabu said PH would explain its position to voters. However, he recognised that some confusion could remain.

Adly Won Bukit Katil in 2021

He secured a majority of 1,057 votes in a four-cornered contest.

The Election Commission has set November 14 as polling day for the 2026 Melaka state election. Early voting will take place on November 10.
