LG Marks 10 Years of InstaView Refrigerator with 5.3 Million Units Sold Worldwide

SEOUL, July 24 2026 — LG Electronics has sold more than 5.3 million InstaView refrigerators worldwide since the product debuted in 2016, marking a decade of growth for its signature appliance that allows users to view the contents of the refrigerator without opening the door.

The company said the milestone is equivalent to selling approximately one InstaView refrigerator every minute over the past 10 years.

North America remains the brand’s largest market, accounting for around 30 per cent of cumulative global sales. Demand has also remained strong in Europe, where consumers value energy efficiency, sustainability and food preservation, while sales continue to grow across Asia and Latin America as interest in premium home appliances increases.

LG said the InstaView refrigerator changed the way consumers interact with kitchen appliances through its “knock twice” glass panel, which lets users see inside the refrigerator without opening the door. The feature helps reduce cold-air loss and improve energy efficiency by limiting unnecessary door openings.

Over the past decade, the product has received several international design and innovation accolades, including the Red Dot Design Award, iF Design Award, IDEA and the CES Innovation Award.

According to LG’s analysis of global customer reviews, consumer perception of the InstaView refrigerator has evolved from appreciating its functional benefits to valuing its premium design and the enhanced kitchen experience it offers.

President of the LG Home Appliance Solution Company, Baek Seung-tae, said the milestone reflects the company’s commitment to developing customer-focused innovations that combine convenience, advanced technology and everyday practicality.

He added that LG will continue to enhance the kitchen experience through artificial intelligence, refrigeration and food preservation technologies as consumer needs continue to evolve.
