Understanding the Air Pollutant Index
The API measures air pollution levels and indicates potential concerns for public health.
Readings from 0 to 50 indicate good air quality, while readings between 51 and 100 are classified as moderate. A reading of 101 to 200 is considered unhealthy, while 201 to 300 is very unhealthy. Readings above 300 are classified as hazardous.
Although no monitoring station recorded unhealthy air quality at 9am, conditions can change throughout the day. The public can check the latest readings through the APIMS system.
