SEREMBAN, July 30 — More than 3,000 members of the Indian community gathered in Negeri Sembilan on Wednesday night for a meet-and-greet session with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, demonstrating strong support for the Unity Government and Pakatan Harapan (PH).
The event, titled “PMX Meet and Greet with the Indian Community in Negeri Sembilan,” was attended by state leaders and community representatives, with organisers describing the turnout as overwhelming.
During the session, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the MADANI Government’s commitment to ensuring that no community is left behind, stressing that development and government assistance would continue to be distributed fairly and inclusively across all segments of society.
Several initiatives introduced by the government to uplift the Indian community were highlighted, including the Kalvi MADANI Programme, laptop assistance for Indian university students, Smart Boards for Tamil schools (SJKT), dialysis assistance, Higher Education Early Assistance, and the increase of the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA) allocation to RM150 million—the highest allocation ever provided for the Indian community in Malaysia.
In Negeri Sembilan alone, more than RM9.73 million in MITRA funding was channelled between January and June 2026. The funds benefited Tamil schools, places of worship, university students, entrepreneurs, dialysis patients, estate workers, and B40 Indian families through various community development programmes.
Leaders at the event said the large turnout reflected the Indian community’s confidence in Anwar’s leadership, citing his administration’s efforts to address the needs of the rakyat through targeted policies and inclusive governance.
The gathering also served as a platform to encourage continued unity, political stability, and support for ongoing development initiatives under the MADANI Government ahead of the Negeri Sembilan state election.
The event concluded with calls for voters to continue supporting Pakatan Harapan in order to sustain the government’s reform agenda and ensure continued progress for all Malaysians.
