KUALA LUMPUR, July 10 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said national security should no longer be viewed solely through the lens of defending a country’s borders but must also encompass public trust, economic resilience, cybersecurity and regional cooperation.
Anwar said the evolving security landscape requires a broader and more comprehensive approach to safeguarding the nation’s interests amid increasingly complex global challenges.
He stressed that national security today is measured not only by a country’s ability to protect its territorial boundaries but also by its capacity to build public confidence, strengthen the economy, safeguard the digital domain and establish strategic partnerships with neighbouring and regional countries.
According to the Prime Minister, these elements are essential in ensuring Malaysia remains resilient and well-prepared to address both traditional and emerging security threats.
He said a holistic national security strategy that integrates economic strength, digital protection and international collaboration is crucial for maintaining long-term stability, prosperity and the well-being of the people.
