No Formal Application to PN, Says MIC’s Saravanan

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) has not submitted any formal application to join Perikatan Nasional (PN), its deputy president M. Saravanan said, amid ongoing speculation over the party’s political direction.

We did not make any formal application to join PN. Whether to remain in Barisan Nasional (BN)  or move elsewhere — no decision has been made,” he told the New Straits Times.

His remarks come amid conflicting reports about MIC’s possible alignment, following claims that the party had been accepted as a component of PN.

When contacted by Minutes MY, a senior MIC leader echoed Saravanan’s position, referring to the deputy president’s statement and reaffirming that no official decision has been taken.

Earlier, the media has reported that MIC has formally joined Perikatan Nasional as claimed by its PN secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan.
