Muhyiddin Denies Bersatu Left Perikatan Nasional

KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 – Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has strongly rejected allegations by Tan Sri Annuar Musa that Bersatu voluntarily left Perikatan Nasional (PN), insisting that the party remains a legitimate founding member whose rights have been denied. In a statement issued on Friday, Muhyiddin said Bersatu never chose to part ways with PN but was instead sidelined from key decision-making processes, including negotiations over seat allocations for the upcoming Negeri Sembilan state election. According to Muhyiddin, discussions on electoral seat distribution involving Bersatu were abruptly halted without reasonable justification. He also claimed that Bersatu was not invited to attend the Special Meeting of the PN Supreme Council, where the coalition finalised seat allocations among its component parties. "How can Bersatu be accused of acting ahead of the coalition's decision when we were not even invited to the meeting?" he questioned. Muhyiddin also addressed recent revelations that PN Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar had authorised exploratory discussions with Barisan Nasional (BN). While he said he did not object to negotiations, he argued that any proposal involving cooperation with another political coalition should first have been deliberated and approved by the PN Supreme Council. He criticised the process, claiming discussions were conducted without involving all PN component parties or obtaining a formal mandate from the coalition's leadership, describing the approach as contrary to proper governance. Reflecting on his tenure as PN chairman, Muhyiddin said he had always ensured that every component party was included in discussions on policy matters and electoral seat allocations during the coalition's first five years. "Today, everything has become chaotic," he said. Muhyiddin also dismissed Annuar's accusation that Bersatu was obstructing Malay unity, describing the claim as "irresponsible." He stressed that Bersatu was established as a Malay Bumiputera party and maintained that his commitment to Malay unity has never wavered. He recalled that during the formation of Perikatan Nasional, he had envisioned the coalition as a broad political platform that would unite Malay-based parties, including UMNO, alongside multiracial parties. However, he claimed UMNO declined to join PN and later refused to formally become part of the PN-led federal government, despite several UMNO Members of Parliament supporting the administration. Muhyiddin further alleged that UMNO lawmakers later conspired to bring down the PN government, which he described as a Malay-led administration. He claimed a similar political strategy is now being directed at the Unity Government formed by UMNO and Pakatan Harapan. According to Muhyiddin, PAS' decision to pursue cooperation with UMNO—despite UMNO's continued partnership with Pakatan Harapan and DAP—ultimately resulted in Bersatu being excluded from Perikatan Nasional. He argued that the current political realignment should not be portrayed as genuine Malay unity, but rather as a reshuffling of political power. Despite his criticism, Muhyiddin wished Perikatan Nasional well, saying Bersatu would now move forward independently. "Bersatu will not look back. Perikatan Nasional to Unveil Negeri Sembilan Election Candidates Tommorow

SEREMBAN, July 15 – Perikatan Nasional (PN) is set to officially announce its lineup of candidates for the 2026 Negeri Sembilan State Election (PRN) at a special event tommorow. The candidate announcement marks the coalition's formal entry into the state election campaign as it prepares to contest for the mandate to govern Negeri Sembilan. The event will be held at the Negeri Sembilan PAS Complex (KOMPAS) in Kampung Ismail, Ampangan, beginning at 9.00pm on Thursday. End of collaboration with Bersatu, PAS may leave or be expelled from PN – Analyst

KUALA LUMPUR: PAS is likely to leave or be expelled from the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition after deciding to end its collaboration with Bersatu, according to political analysts. Director of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Kuala Lumpur, Associate Professor Dr Mazlan Ali, said PAS cannot determine the direction of PN alone because the political coalition also includes Bersatu, Gerakan and the Malaysian Indian People's Party (MIPP). "PAS only represents one voice... since PAS has severed ties with Bersatu, there is a possibility that the three component parties in PN will decide to expel PAS, and the coalition is expected to be led by Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin," he told Bernama. He said PAS was likely to form a new political alignment to face the next election, thus further breaking the opposition bloc. "We will see two opposition blocs ahead of the 16th General Election (GE16), namely PN led by Bersatu and another new alignment led by PAS," he said. Mazlan also said the split between PAS and Bersatu could potentially give an advantage to Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) if Malay support was no longer concentrated in one opposition coalition. Yesterday, PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang announced that the party had officially decided to end political cooperation with Bersatu after taking into account reports, studies and current assessments of the relationship between the two parties. Following the decision, Muhyiddin in a statement today announced that Bersatu, as the founding party of PN, will continue to remain in the coalition and strengthen the core of its struggle. Universiti Sains Malaysia's Centre for Social Sciences lecturer Professor Datuk Dr Sivamurugan Pandian said PAS and Bersatu were expected to face political repercussions following the decision, as well as major challenges in gaining voter support. He said Bersatu was expected to be more affected because it relied heavily on the strength of the PAS machinery and grassroots support. "However, PAS also faces the challenge of expanding its influence in mixed areas without the support of strategic partners," he said. PRN: PM Anwar expected to launch Johor PH machinery tomorrow night

JOHOR BAHRU, June 5 -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman, is scheduled to launch the state PH machinery for the 16th Johor State Election (PRN) tomorrow night. Johor PKR Vice Chairman, Jimmy Puah Wee Tse, through a post on Facebook today, said that the launch was scheduled to take place at the Chinese High School Hall, Batu Pahat at 8pm. "Launching of the Johor PH PRN machinery. ' We are ready '," the post said. PH Deputy Chairman and DAP Secretary-General, Anthony Loke Siew Fook and Amanah President, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu are also expected to be present at the launch. Previously, Johor PH announced that it would contest all 56 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats in this PRN. In the 2022 Johor state election, BN won 40 state seats, PH (12), Perikatan Nasional (three) and MUDA (one). KUALA TERENGGANU: The list of candidates for the Johor State Election (PRN) has been submitted by Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi and is currently in the evaluation stage. Deputy Prime Minister and BN Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the list of candidates that had been submitted to him would be finalised after he held discussions with the leaders of BN component parties. "The candidates are in the evaluation stage, but we must also respect the candidates who come (put forward) from other BN component parties," he said. Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, said this to reporters after the Closing Ceremony of the Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Economic Convention (KEUB 2026) here today. The UMNO president, who also confirmed that Onn Hafiz would remain the "poster boy" in the state election, said BN was committed to winning more than 40 seats in this state election, surpassing the record achieved in 2022. However, he admitted that no victory can be achieved easily except through hard work, wisdom and an organized machinery. Apart from that, the various initiatives implemented by the Johor State Government under the BN administration for the well-being of the people of Johor are believed to gain the support and confidence of voters in this election. Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid dismissed negative perceptions about the relationship between BN and Pakatan Harapan (PH) following the decision to contest solo, by emphasizing that the Johor State Government under BN administration was formed before the existence of the Unity Government at the Federal level. "The government in Johor is a BN government, not a Unity Government. The door has been opened by Johor BN for them to contest on a friendly basis in each of the 56 state assembly seats," he said. Yesterday, Onn Hafiz announced the dissolution of the Johor State Assembly after receiving the consent of the Regent Sultan of Johor Tunku Mahkota Ismail to pave the way for the state election. Onn Hafiz previously confirmed that Johor BN would field candidates in all 56 seats in this state election. PAS Will Not Bow To Bersatu, Ready To Reassess Ties – Abdul Hadi

MARANG, May 22 -- PAS will not bow to the will of any party, including Bersatu, in determining its political direction. Its president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said the party would thoroughly examine every negative action taken by Bersatu. He also said that PAS does not rule out the possibility of moving forward without Bersatu ahead of the 16th General Election (GE16) should both parties fail to reach a consensus in their political cooperation. The party is currently reassessing its ties with its ally in Perikatan Nasional (PN) comprehensively to ensure it does not affect the party’s performance. “We are reviewing all aspects (of the cooperation) because the election is approaching. Elections come with gains and losses. If it affects election matters, we will act accordingly,” he said at a press conference after a Dhuha lecture here today.
