KUALA LUMPUR, September 9 2026, Pakatan Harapan (PH) has expressed full support for the MADANI Government’s efforts to combat corruption, leakages and abuse of power.
In a statement, the PH Secretariat Council said that the coalition also fully upheld the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s earlier decree that every case must be thoroughly investigated, without compromise, against anyone found guilty.
As a political coalition, it said PH has from the outset championed institutional reform, good governance and the rejection of corruption and abuse of power.
The council also maintains that anyone convicted of corruption or abuse of power, particularly in high-profile cases, should serve the full sentence imposed by the court.
“The principle of the rule of law also requires that ongoing judicial proceedings be allowed to run their course in an orderly and independent manner, without creating any perception that the process has been preceded by other considerations,” the statement read.
The council said it was important for Malaysia, which is in a recovery phase, to strengthen governance and restore public confidence in the country’s institutions.
Therefore, any decisions involving high-profile cases must take into account public confidence in the country’s commitment to advancing the agenda, it added.
“Several high-profile corruption cases in the past have also had a significant impact on Malaysia’s image and reputation internationally.
“In recent years, the country has worked hard to rebuild confidence in its institutions, governance and ability to tackle corruption and abuse of power. This momentum must continue to be safeguarded,” it said.
It said PH was built on the support of Malaysians from various races, religions and backgrounds who placed high hopes on the ‘Reformasi’ (reforms) agenda and the establishment of a clean, integrity-driven and accountable nation.
“That trust requires us to remain consistent in voicing our position based on principles, even when faced with challenging circumstances and pressure from various quarters,” the council said.
PH also reiterated its commitment to upholding the Federal Constitution, respecting national institutions and, at the same time, standing firm in defending the principles of reform, the rule of law and the fight against corruption.
