KUALA LUMPUR — PKR has expressed its readiness to fully cooperate with authorities regarding allegations involving one of its Members of Parliament in a RM10 million misconduct case.
Party Information Chief Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the party leadership had been briefed on the media reports concerning the allegations and would leave the matter entirely to the authorities for further investigation.
“We have not held any meeting regarding this matter, but the leadership has been informed of the reports. If there is any wrongdoing, we leave it to the authorities to conduct the investigation. We have nothing to hide and the party will cooperate fully with law enforcement,” he told reporters after attending the 219th Police Day celebration at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre (PULAPOL) today.
Fahmi, who is also the Communications Minister, added that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has previously made it clear that the government will not shield anyone involved in misconduct.
“This principle applies to all groups, including party members or MPs from the government bloc,” he said.
Regarding the party’s next steps, Fahmi stressed that any investigation must begin with an official report from the complainant to enforcement agencies such as the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) or the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM).
“It is up to the complainant to lodge a police report or report to any other enforcement body. This is the process that must be followed before any further action is taken,” he explained.
The allegation stems from media reports that businessman Victor Chin Boon Long, linked to the ‘corporate mafia’ scandal, claimed that a PKR MP had asked him to provide RM10 million in cash to resolve the matter.
On 16 March, police confirmed raids on several properties belonging to the businessman in Kemensah and Sungai Long, Kajang. However, both he and his wife were reportedly not present during the operations.
