KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today presented appointment letters to the newly appointed members of the Special Committee on Corruption (JKMR) and the Advisory Board on Corruption Prevention (LPPR) in Parliament, following the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Anwar said the appointments marked another step in strengthening Malaysia’s governance framework and enhancing institutional oversight in the nation’s fight against corruption.
He stressed that both JKMR and LPPR serve as important check-and-balance mechanisms by providing independent and critical perspectives to improve the effectiveness of corruption prevention efforts.
During the presentation ceremony, the Prime Minister entrusted the newly appointed members with the responsibility of reinforcing the national anti-corruption agenda.
Despite coming from diverse professional backgrounds, Anwar said the members are united by a common mandate to strengthen efforts to combat corruption in the best interests of the country.
He emphasised that the fight against corruption cannot be carried out by a single institution alone, but requires close cooperation among enforcement agencies, advisory bodies, Parliament, the public sector, the private sector and society as a whole.
Anwar reiterated that a whole-of-nation approach remains essential to building a transparent, accountable and corruption-free Malaysia.
