JOHOR BAHRU, June 23 — Prime Minister and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced the full list of PKR candidates who will contest under the Pakatan Harapan (PH) banner in the upcoming 16th Johor State Election.
The announcement, made in Anwar’s capacity as Pakatan Harapan chairman, showcased a diverse slate of candidates drawn from various professional backgrounds, age groups and communities, reflecting the coalition’s commitment to inclusivity, representation and progressive leadership.
According to PKR, the candidate line-up embodies the party’s core principles of diversity, inclusion and the empowerment of women and young leaders, while maintaining a balance between experienced political figures and fresh faces.
“The combination of experience, integrity and reform-minded leadership among these candidates will serve as a strong foundation for continuing Johor’s development agenda, strengthening the people’s economy and ensuring sustainable prosperity for the state,” the party said.
PKR stressed that its candidates were selected based on their ability to understand grassroots concerns, engage directly with local communities and deliver effective governance in line with the coalition’s reform agenda.
Among the notable candidates announced are former Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik, who will contest the Puteri Wangsa seat, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad in Kota Iskandar, and former Pulai MP Suhaizan Kaiat in Larkin.
The list also features a significant number of women candidates, including Elia Nadira Sabudin (Tenang), Soraya Badaruddin (Sungai Balang), Nor Zulaila Abd Ghani (Tiram), Felicia Poh Rui Ling (Penggaram), Teo Siew Hui (Permas), and Kartiyaini Jeyapalan (Skudai).
PKR leaders said the diverse candidate selection demonstrates the party’s commitment to building a leadership pipeline that reflects Johor’s multicultural society while preparing the next generation of leaders.
The party called on supporters and voters across Johor to rally behind Pakatan Harapan’s candidates, describing the state election as an important opportunity to continue the reform agenda and expand economic opportunities for the people.
Pakatan Harapan is expected to face strong competition across Johor’s 56 state constituencies as political parties intensify preparations ahead of the state election campaign period.
