KUALA LUMPUR: Police are tracking down a man suspected of impersonating a civil servant to deceive the public.
Kajang District Police Chief, ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof, in a statement today, said his department received a report on the incident at 6.58 pm yesterday.
He said the investigation is being conducted under Section 170 of the Penal Code and members of the public who have information regarding the incident are asked to contact Investigating Officer Sergeant Siti Aidah Yem at 010-2176278 to assist in the investigation.
Yesterday, a post went viral on the Threads app from a woman claiming to have been the target of a fraud attempt after being contacted by an individual claiming to be a member of the Kajang District Police Headquarters and an officer of a ministry.
Members of the public who have information about any criminal activity can contact the MERS 999 emergency line or the Kajang District Police Control Centre via 03-89114243.
