HONG KONG, July 20 – The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is strengthening efforts to promote interdisciplinary learning and technology innovation with the launch of a free course focusing on emerging technologies.
The “Advanced Technologies” course, offered under the Advanced Education Programme by the PolyU Academy for Interdisciplinary Research (PAIR), will begin in September 2026 and run for 12 weeks.
Designed by PolyU experts with contributions from industry specialists, the course will explore six key technology areas including photonics, quantum technologies, intelligent wearable systems, artificial intelligence of things (AIoT), advanced manufacturing, and future fashion textiles.
Participants will gain insights into the latest developments in areas such as smart sensing, optical communications, quantum innovation, AI-driven semiconductor research, Industry 4.0 manufacturing solutions, and sustainable smart textiles.
PolyU said the programme aims to help participants better understand how emerging technologies can address global challenges, drive industrial transformation and create new opportunities across various sectors.
The course is open to eligible members of the public at no cost, with no prior technical background required. It will be available through both physical and online learning formats, allowing participation from Hong Kong and overseas learners.
Registration closes on 31 August 2026, with limited seats available for in-person attendance, while online places will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants who fulfil attendance requirements may apply for a certificate of completion.
