KUALA LUMPUR, June 11 — Malaysia MADANI Artificial Intelligence (MMAI) will play a key role in achieving the nation's economic objectives through collaboration with leading global technology companies to strengthen digital sovereignty, secure cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, said Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo,yesterday. Gobind said the initiative's progress and future direction were among the key topics presented by the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) and the National Security Council (MKN) during the MMAI Supreme Council Meeting held today. According to him, the initiative is designed to position Malaysia as a regional leader in digital innovation while supporting the country's broader economic transformation agenda through advanced technologies. “The presentation by NACSA and MKN touched on the status and direction of the implementation of this initiative. Integrated cooperation across these agencies is essential to ensure its effective planning and implementation and to deliver a significant impact in the future,” he said in a statement. Gobind emphasised that strong coordination among government agencies and stakeholders is critical to ensuring the successful execution of MMAI, which aims to build a resilient and secure digital ecosystem for the country. KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 -- The move to rebrand and the implementation of various initiatives prove that the MADANI Government will not stopped striving to improve the Form Six programme. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the effort included rebranding to improve the image, system and quality of education on par with other post-secondary education. "The Form Six programme is indeed very special and close to our hearts. We have implemented various initiatives to continue to elevate this programme," she said in a Facebook post today. According to her, initiatives such as Early Schooling Assistance (BAP), the establishment of the National Form Six Student Representative Committee and strategic collaborations with public higher education institutions were implemented specifically to support Form Six students. She said the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) has high value and is recognised not only at the national level, but also by more than 2,000 international universities. Earlier, she greeted Form Six students who had just registered at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tuanku Muhammad, Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan. “Congratulations everyone. MRL Launches Mobile Exhibition Truck Ahead of ECRL Operations In January 2027

KUALA LUMPUR, June 3 -- The East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project reached 94 per cent construction progress as of May and is scheduled to enter the testing and commissioning phase before starting commercial operations in January 2027. Following this, Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL) launched the ECRL 2026 Mobile Exhibition Truck today to engage local communities and raise public awareness of the project's development and future operations. The truck launch was officiated by the Chief Secretary to the Government and MRL chairman, Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, along with MRL chief executive officer, Datuk Seri Darwis Abdul Razak, at Publika here. "This roadshow programme is part of MRL’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public engagement with communities along the ECRL alignment, especially in rural and semi-urban East Coast areas. "In addition, it also aims to enhance public safety awareness in tandem with the energisation works of the ECRL project's electrical system," read a statement from MRL. Shamsul Azri, in the same statement, said the ECRL is a long-term national investment to strengthen connectivity, stimulate regional development, and create a more balanced economic growth in Peninsular Malaysia. He said the initiative reflects MRL's commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and public participation in the implementation of high-impact national infrastructure projects, in line with the Malaysia MADANI aspirations. Darwis said ahead of the testing and commissioning phase, the public needs clear, easily accessible sources on the project's progress and its benefits to their daily lives. “The ECRL Mobile Exhibition Truck provides a more community-friendly platform, allowing the public to obtain direct information, pose questions, and understand the role of the ECRL in strengthening connectivity, mobility, and economic opportunities on the East Coast,” he said. The truck will tour selected locations from June 3 to July 15. It starts at Dataran Bentong, Pahang, tomorrow (June 4), followed by Felda Mempaga (June 5), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) Pekan (June 6), and East Coast Mall, Kuantan (June 7), before moving to other East Coast locations. KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today opened the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (KLIBF) 2026 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL), here. His arrival at 10.30 am was greeted enthusiastically by thousands of visitors who had begun flooding the venue since early morning. Saifuddin: MADANI Govt Firm On Protecting Malaysians Abroad, Demands Probe Into Gaza Flotilla Abuse

KUALA LUMPUR, May 28 -- The MADANI Government remains firm and will not compromise on protecting the safety, welfare, and rights of Malaysians abroad, in line with international legal principles and universal humanitarian values. Minister of Home Affairs Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said that the government demands an immediate, comprehensive, independent, and transparent investigation into the harsh treatment of Malaysian citizens and Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 activists detained by Israeli forces during a recent humanitarian mission to Gaza. "The government also demands that the welfare, dignity, and legal rights of all detained activists be fully respected and protected," he said in a post on his Facebook page today. Furthermore, he said the government calls for consistent diplomatic efforts to prevent any escalation of tensions that could threaten international stability and security. "As Malaysians, we are deeply concerned when allegations arise involving harsh physical treatment, elements of intimidation, and the denial of basic rights to the activists involved. "I understand that various parties, including human rights organisations and legal representatives, are currently gathering testimonies and evidence related to the incident," he said. He added that the government will continue to monitor the situation closely and ensure that the interests and safety of Malaysian citizens remain a top priority. A total of 28 Malaysians who participated in the GSF 2.0 humanitarian mission to Gaza and were detained by Israeli forces safely arrived back in the country last Monday. However, another activist, Razman Mat Ali, is reported to be still in Istanbul, Turkiye, receiving treatment after suffering a traumatic pneumothorax (collapsed lung) as a result of being punched by Israeli soldiers during the incident. --BERNAMA

Retail Prices Of Petrol, Diesel To Drop From Tomorrow Until June 3

KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 -- The retail prices of RON95 and RON97 petrol have been reduced by 15 sen and 20 sen per litre respectively, while the price of diesel in Peninsular Malaysia has been reduced by 10 sen per litre for the period from May 28 to June 3. The Ministry of Finance (MOF) in a statement today announced that the retail price of RON95 petrol has been reduced to RM3.92 per litre from RM4.07, RON97 to RM4.65 from RM4.85, while diesel in Peninsular Malaysia has been reduced to RM4.87 from RM4.97. According to the ministry, in line with the Automatic Price Mechanism (APM) formula, the retail prices of petrol and diesel for the week in question were reduced following the decline in the average international market price in the previous week. “However, this decline does not indicate that the pressure on the global petroleum market has subsided as market uncertainty following the conflict in the Middle East that has lasted for more than 12 weeks still persists. “In addition, the damage to oil production and refining facilities in the Middle East will require a long period of time to recover,” the statement said. Meanwhile, MOF said the MADANI Government continues to maintain the price of subsidised petroleum products in a targeted manner to preserve the livelihood of the people and the operations of certain sectors in the uncertain global market conditions. The subsidised prices maintained are RON95 through BUDI95 at RM1.99 per liter, diesel in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan (RM2.15), while for the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) and the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) at RM2.05 and RM2.15 per litre respectively. According to MOF through BUDI95, the government continues to maintain the subsidised RON95 price for more than 14 million eligible recipients, with more than 90 per cent of the total fuel consumption in the country involving subsidy recipients. “At the current unsubsidised RON95 price of RM3.92 per litre, the consumption of 200 litres will cost RM784. This means that the MADANI Government will bear RM386 for each recipient who uses the full BUDI95 entitlement. “Through the monthly eligibility ceiling of up to 200 litres, BUDI95 recipients will only pay up to RM398 per month for the full use of the entitlement,” the statement said. MOF said to balance the cost of living and fiscal expenditure needs prudently, the government will continue to take a targeted approach to protect the people from fuel price fluctuations, in addition to ensuring that the country’s supply remains sufficient and secure. Meanwhile, the government calls on the people to practise fuel consumption prudently through more efficient travel planning and reducing unnecessary travel to help ensure that the country’s supply continues to be secure in the current uncertain global market conditions. -- BERNAMA

Applications Open June 1 For RM5 Mln MADANI Content Fund – Fahmi

KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 -- Applications for the RM5 million ‘Dana Pemangkin Generasi MADANI’ will officially open from June 1 to 30 to support the production of creative content that reflects the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the fund, provided through the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), is open to eligible local companies and youth organisations. Fahmi, who is also MADANI Government spokesperson, said the fund covers five main production categories, namely telemovies, documentaries, short films, short documentaries and animation. “Through this fund, the Communications Ministry via FINAS aims to support the production of content that reflects the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI, with emphasis on strengthening identity, harmony, integrity and social unity,” he said. Fahmi was speaking at the closing ceremony of the Festival Belia @ National Youth Day 2026 celebration for the Federal Territories here today. Fahmi said the content produced must also be in line with the principle of respecting 3R sensitivities involving religion, race and the royal institution. “Therefore, I urge all eligible parties to seize this opportunity by submitting applications to continue creating, innovating and producing creative, high-quality artistic works that can bring positive impact to society and the country,” he said. He also said the fund is among the strategic components introduced to strengthen the creative youth ecosystem through various initiatives, including the Film Community and Creative Youth Workshop, Reel MADANI@Kampus Programme, Ikon Belia Kreatif MADANI and special collaboration programmes with the Malaysian Youth Council and the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM). At the same event, Fahmi also witnessed the exchange of a Letter of Intent (LoI) between FINAS and TikTok Malaysia for a strategic collaboration aimed at building a stronger support ecosystem to nurture a generation of capable, ethical and competitive content creators. “The collaboration between FINAS and TikTok is expected to help more local youths produce, promote and bring their creative works to the international market through broader industry support, technology and global reach,” he said.
