KUALA LUMPUR: The People's Justice Party (PKR) remains strong after 27 years of facing various challenges in the country's political arena since it was founded on April 4, 1999. PKR Information Chief Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said that despite facing various obstacles, the party remained steadfast as a result of its integrity of principles and the strength of its struggle that never faded. "JUSTICE (PKR) was born from the spirit of reform, in an effort to uphold justice, fight injustice, defend the people's voice and build a Malaysia that is more just, democratic and with integrity. "This journey has not been easy. We have gone through various tests, challenges and twists and turns. Thanks to the integrity of principles and the strength of struggle, KEADILAN continues to stand, continues to advance, and continues to be a source of hope for the people," he said in a post on his Facebook page in conjunction with the party's 27th anniversary. Fahmi, who is also the Minister of Communications, said the anniversary celebration was a reminder that the reform agenda still needed to be continued for the sake of the country's future. "The spirit of reform is still alive, and our struggle is still not over. Happy 27th anniversary of JUSTICE. May the banner of reform continue to fly," he said.

Fahmi Fadzil: PKR Will Not Shield Power Abuse, Leaders Urged to Uphold Integrity

Kuala Lumpur -- The People's Justice Party (PKR) will not protect any leader or member found to be abusing power, its Information Chief Fahmi Fadzil said. YB Fahmi, who is also the Communications Minister, stressed that party president and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has issued a firm warning that no individual—including ministers—would be shielded if implicated in misconduct. He reminded party members not to misuse their positions for personal gain or engage in actions that could tarnish the party’s image. Fahmi also recalled PKR’s past struggle against abuse of power, urging members not to repeat such practices within their own ranks. Speaking at the opening of the PKR Branch Annual General Meeting for the Federal Territories 2026 in Bandar Tun Razak, Fahmi cautioned leaders against becoming complacent. He noted that unexplained changes in lifestyle could invite negative public perception and erode trust. At the same time, he encouraged party members to maintain internal accountability by offering constructive criticism through proper channels. He emphasized that while diversity of views is welcomed within PKR, unity remains crucial, especially as the country navigates global economic pressures and an ongoing energy crisis. In a separate development, Fahmi confirmed that the defamation suit he filed against three individuals will proceed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court starting next Monday. He said he is expected to testify as the first witness, adding that the legal action was initiated to clear his name. The suit, filed on Sept 5, 2023, names Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, also known as Papagomo, independent preacher Ahmad Dusuki Abd Rani, and Mohd Fauzan Madzlan, who operates the N13 Kuang Facebook account. INCOTT Urges Melaka PKR Youth to Prioritise Reform Agenda and Grassroots Support Over Calls for Rafizi Ramli to Exit Party

KUALA LUMPUR, April 3, 2026 — Local non-governmental organisation Indian Coordination Think Tank (INCOTT) has urged Melaka youth leaders of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) to move beyond internal disputes and concentrate on broader issues affecting the party, including declining public support and preparations for the upcoming Melaka state election. In an open letter addressed to Melaka PKR deputy chief Mohd Khuzaire Mohd Kamal and leaders of Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK), INCOTT national honorary secretary Muhammad Navalan Abdullah cautioned against recent calls for Rafizi Ramli to step down. The call for Rafizi’s resignation follows remarks by Mohd Khuzaire, who, according to an April 1 report by Sinar Harian, criticised the Pandan Member of Parliament for allegedly making repeated public attacks against the party. He claimed such actions have tarnished PKR’s image and undermined party president and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Khuzaire described the criticisms as misleading and damaging, warning they could weaken party unity and provide opportunities for political opponents. However, Navalan argued that calls for resignation fail to address deeper issues within the party. He said Rafizi’s stance reflects PKR’s long-standing reformist tradition, which encourages internal debate and accountability. “Instead of sidelining dissent, party leaders should revisit the reform ideals that once strengthened PKR,” he said. The letter also raised concerns over what it described as a sharp decline in support among Indian and Chinese voters, urging the party to adopt structured strategies and strengthen grassroots engagement. Navalan further called on AMK Melaka to play a more proactive role in reconnecting with young voters and local communities, rather than being drawn into internal controversies. Looking ahead to the next state election, he warned that PKR risks a poor showing, with projections suggesting the party could struggle to secure even a small number of seats. He described the situation as a “wake-up call” for party leaders to intensify efforts on the ground and rebuild voter confidence. The letter also questioned the relative silence of younger party figures, including Adam Adli, during what it described as a critical period. Navalan concluded by urging PKR leaders to move away from personality-driven politics and refocus on core principles such as justice, reform, and institutional renewal, while demonstrating commitment through consistent grassroots work to regain public trust, particularly in Melaka.

PKR Pledges Full Cooperation Over Alleged RM10 Million Misconduct Involving Party MP

KUALA LUMPUR — PKR has expressed its readiness to fully cooperate with authorities regarding allegations involving one of its Members of Parliament in a RM10 million misconduct case. Party Information Chief Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the party leadership had been briefed on the media reports concerning the allegations and would leave the matter entirely to the authorities for further investigation. “We have not held any meeting regarding this matter, but the leadership has been informed of the reports. If there is any wrongdoing, we leave it to the authorities to conduct the investigation. We have nothing to hide and the party will cooperate fully with law enforcement,” he told reporters after attending the 219th Police Day celebration at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre (PULAPOL) today. Fahmi, who is also the Communications Minister, added that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has previously made it clear that the government will not shield anyone involved in misconduct. “This principle applies to all groups, including party members or MPs from the government bloc,” he said. Regarding the party’s next steps, Fahmi stressed that any investigation must begin with an official report from the complainant to enforcement agencies such as the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) or the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM). “It is up to the complainant to lodge a police report or report to any other enforcement body. This is the process that must be followed before any further action is taken,” he explained. The allegation stems from media reports that businessman Victor Chin Boon Long, linked to the ‘corporate mafia’ scandal, claimed that a PKR MP had asked him to provide RM10 million in cash to resolve the matter. On 16 March, police confirmed raids on several properties belonging to the businessman in Kemensah and Sungai Long, Kajang. However, both he and his wife were reportedly not present during the operations.
