UMNO annual conference begins today until July 12

KUALA LUMPUR, JUNE 1 — The annual UMNO conference, which brings together representatives from Divisions, Women, Youth and Puteri throughout the country, will be held today until July 12.

UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the conference would be a platform to strengthen the ranks of struggle and renew commitment to the party, the people and the country.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Rural and Regional Development, said this conference was taking place in an increasingly challenging world with global economic pressures, rapid technological changes and various social challenges, which required UMNO to continue to think far ahead and offer the best solutions to the people.

“At the age of 80, UMNO cannot rely solely on its history of struggle. The future requires the courage to change, the wisdom to adapt and the determination to remain relevant in fulfilling the people’s expectations.”

“Therefore, I hope that this year’s conference will be a platform for us to strengthen the agenda of the Rumah Bangsa and the National Conference so that we can unite our thoughts, strengthen national institutions and have broader cooperation for the benefit of Malaysia,” he said in a Facebook post today.

In this regard, he called on all delegates to utilize the conference wisely, be mature in expressing their views and always put the interests of the party and the people above all else.

“God willing, UMNO will continue to be a platform that the people trust and will continue to play an important role in the country’s journey. Welcome to all UMNO members. United. Loyal. Serving. Long live UMNO,” he said.
