NILAI, JULY 30 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday has urged voters in Negeri Sembilan to evaluate leaders based on integrity, capability and performance, rather than race or political sentiment, as the state approaches polling day.
Speaking during a visit to Desa Cempaka, Nilai, where he showed support for Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidates, Anwar said PH was offering its track record of clean governance and efforts to improve the state’s economy and people’s well-being.
He criticised opposition parties for allegedly using racial sentiments, including anti-Chinese narratives and claims that PH was controlled by DAP, to gain political support.
Anwar said Malaysia’s challenges should not be viewed through the lens of race, but through the principles of accountability, trust and responsible leadership.
“The issue is not about race or skin colour, but about integrity, trust, ability and sincerity in carrying out responsibilities for the people,” he said.
He pointed to past governance failures involving mismanagement and abuse of power that had resulted in financial losses and billions of ringgit in liabilities, stressing that good leadership depended on values rather than ethnicity.
Anwar called on Negeri Sembilan voters to consider the state government’s achievements under Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, whom he credited with implementing policies that benefited the people and addressing long-standing issues.
He expressed confidence that the people of Negeri Sembilan would make a wise decision by supporting a clean and responsible administration focused on the state’s future development.
